Join COS in the suburbs for an afternoon birding trip at Buffalo Creek. Lake County Forest Preserves manages this 400-acre hotspot that contains diverse habitats including woodland, prairie, and wetland. We will be on the lookout for spring migratory bird species such as shorebirds, flycatchers, and warblers.

Accessibility:

This trip is designed to be a slow-paced, social bird walk traveling a roughly 2-mile long loop. This trip will take place on mostly relatively flat asphalt substrate with minimal obstacles. Dress for the weather. Restroom facilities are available onsite. Cell reception is regularly available. Loaner binoculars will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Weather/Attire/Other:

Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Please bring bottled water. Dress for the weather. Ticks can be expected here. Long pants and insect repellent are recommended.

The exact meeting location will be emailed in advance to registrants. Free parking in the lot is available. Driving to this location is recommended.
