Location: Busse Woods (Ned Brown Forest Preserve), Elk Grove Village, IL 60007

Let's take a nice stroll along the paved trails of Busse Woods South, scanning the lakes for migrant waterbirds and raptors. The patches of woods along these trails should also be hosting early woodland migrants, particularly blackbirds, creepers and kinglets. This will be a 2-3 mile there-and-back hike in the southern half of Busse Woods.

Accessibility:

Total trip distance is approximately 3 mile and will take place mostly on wide paved, crushed-gravel, or wood-chip trails that are relatively level with minimal incline. We may leave the trail at times to walk through the grass for a better view of the birds. Any recent rain may create muddy conditions.

Restrooms are available at the field house.

Weather/Attire/Other:

Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Please bring bottled water. Dress for the weather. Loaner binoculars will be available.

The exact meeting location will be emailed in advance to registrants. Free parking is available in the parking lot. The 600 bus stops at the Northwest transportation center, not far from this parking lot.
