Join Chicago Ornithological Society on an evening hike to observe the spectacular mating dance of the elusive Timberdoodle (American Woodcock). All ages and experience levels are welcome on this twilight adventure. Please dress aggressively for the weather with multiple layers as temperatures can drop rapidly after sunset and timberdoodling is frigid business. Flashlights permitted but not required and loaner binoculars will be available.

Accessibility:

Total trip distance is approximately 1 mile and will take place mostly on mowed grass trails that are relatively level with no elevation changes. Any recent rain may create muddy conditions.   No bathrooms are available.

Weather/Attire/Other:

Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Please bring bottled water. Dress for the weather. Ticks can be expected here. Long pants and insect repellent are recommended. Loaner binoculars will be available.

The exact meeting location will be emailed in advance to registrants. Free street parking is available.
