Please join the Chicago Ornithological Society for an evening walk to watch the wonderful mating dance of the seldom seen American Woodcock! Birders of all experience levels and ages are welcome to join us on this adventure. Please dress appropriately for the weather with several layers, as temperatures can drop quickly after the sunset when looking for timberdoodles! Flashlights are permitted, no spare binoculars will be available.

Accessibility:

Total trip distance is approximately 0.5 miles. Trail is unpaved, often muddy, and sometimes under water so sturdy, waterproof footwear is strongly recommended. Restrooms are unavailable. 

Weather/Attire/Other:

Comfortable walking shoes or boots for mud and wet trails that may have shallow water are recommended. Dress for the weather. Based on the forecast, you may want to bring a light jacket or heavy coat, hat, and gloves. Loaner binoculars will be available.

The exact meeting location will be emailed in advance to registrants. Driving recommended. Free parking lot and street parking available. 4 minute walk from Glen./N. Glenview MD-N Metra station.
