COS and CBA Joint Birding Trip to Crabtree Nature Center

Join Chicago Bird Alliance (CBA) and COS for this joint morning birding trip out to Crabtree Nature Center in Barrington. This destination is a favorite for many city birders who want to take a break from the hustle and bustle. The Forest Preserves of Cook County manages the property's prairies, woodlands, and wetlands that host 246 bird species throughout the year. This trip is designed to be a slow-paced, social bird outing.

Pre-registration is required. Please contact Sammy Cabindol (wildlifesammy@gmail.com) at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend or with questions.

Accessibility:

Total trip distance is approximately 1 mile and will take place mostly on wide paved, crushed-gravel, or wood-chip trails that are relatively level with minimal incline. We may leave the trail at times to walk through the grass for a better view of the birds. Any recent rain may create muddy conditions.

Restrooms are not available during the time of this bird walk (open at 9AM at the field house).

Weather/Attire/Other:

Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Please bring bottled water. Dress for the weather. Ticks are present at this location: insect repellent and long pants are recommended. Loaner binoculars will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.

The exact meeting location will be emailed in advance to registrants. Free parking is available at parking lot. Driving is recommended.
