Flock Club Book Club: Turning to Birds

  • Jefferson Park Library 5363 W. Lawrence Avenue Chicago, IL, 60630 United States (map)

Join us for this latest edition of Flock Club!, the social gathering by and for bird enthusiasts. Our July gathering is a Year of Green Birding event that will focus on the slow side of birding through a discussion of Lili Taylor’s book Turning to Birds: The Power and Beauty of Noticing.

While taking a break from acting, Taylor sought silence and instead found herself surrounded b birdsong in New York City. Her short essays convey her joy and fascination with birds ranging from Blue Jays on a Manhattan fire escape to a cloud of migrating birds surrounding the Empire State Building. Taylor takes a mindfulness approach to birding and encourages readers to be present and immersed in the world around them. This recently published book is 208 pages and is available as a hardcover, ebook, and audio book.
