Flock Club Book Club: Birding to Change the World

  • Albany Park Library 3401 West Foster Avenue Chicago, IL, 60625 United States (map)

Join us for this latest edition of Flock Club!, the social gathering by and for bird enthusiasts. Our November gathering is a book discussion focusing on Trish O’Kane’s Birding to Change the World.

O’Kane is a former human rights journalist and an “accidental ornithologist.” Never having been one to pay attention to nature, she turned to birds to help her through the emotional devastation brought on by Hurricane Katrina. Her new obsession led her to Madison where she earned a PhD in environmental studies and began her new life as an environmental researcher and educator, using her passion for birds and social justice to organize her community to save a local wildlife haven.

Schedule

5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. – Get acquainted and enjoy light refreshments.

6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. – Discuss Birding to Change the World.

This program is free but requires RSVP. Participants may arrive late for this after-work event.
