Birds & Bytes: Bird-Friendly Building Design

Virtual Program

In this episode of Birds & Bytes, we’ll talk to the architect of the Willowbrook Wildlife Center expansion about the process of designing a building and where architects and the public can have the greatest impact on bird-friendly design.

There are a variety of glass products on the market that architects can recommend based on cost, durability, and effectiveness. Some clients might be interested in bird safe windows while others may not. For some types of projects, building owners will ask for community input. Learn how to participate in public meetings and to give specific feedback to most effectively influence the design.

In the Chicago area, injured birds are typically taken to the Willowbrook Wildlife Center where patients are treated and released when possible. In 2022, construction started to expand the center’s facilities. Learn about the design process for the expansion including how the architect worked with the client and community on a bird-friendly solution.

All are welcome to attend this free event but RSVP is required.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
