Jurgensen Woods Owl Prowl

  • Jurgensen Woods Glenwood, IL United States (map)

Join COS for an owl prowl through one of Cook County's most under birded nature preserves. We will also visit some neighboring preserves. We'll be on the lookout for multiple species of owls during high mating and calling season.

Beginning birders welcome and loaner binoculars will be available! Total trip distance is approximately 1 mile walking with some driving. Trails are often unpaved and muddy so sturdy, waterproof footwear is strongly recommended. Please dress aggressively for the weather with multiple layers as temperatures can drop rapidly after sunset and owling is frigid business. Flashlights permitted but not required.

Leader: Edward Warden

You must RSVP in advance. Pre-registration is required for the bird walk. Please contact Edward (edwarhzan@gmail.com) or aerin tedesco (aerintedesco@gmail.com) at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend or with questions.

Safety Instructions:
- In order to attend you must be FULLY VACCINATED.
- Please bring a face mask with you. You may be asked to wear it as needed by the trip leader.
