Beginning Botany for Birders

Oaks, maples, and dogwoods, oh my! You hear the names of plants and can maybe pick out a maple leaf from a pile of oak leaves, but how do you identify the rest of them? What is the difference between a silver maple, a red maple, and a sugar maple?

Have no fear, we are here to show you how to point out some key features of plants to easily tell them apart, or at least relay the information to your favorite plant nerd for follow-up. Join the Illinois Native Plant Society to learn some useful botanical terms and how to identify common species in the area that will enhance your next birding trip.

All are welcome to attend this free event but rsvp is required.
