Iroquois SWA Whip-poor-walk

  • Iroquois County State Wildlife Area 2803 E 3300 North Rd Pembroke Township, IL 60958 United States (map)

Join COS as we travel to the sandy oak savannas of Iroquois County, one of the last remaining strongholds of Eastern Whip-poor-will in the Chicago region. We will listen for (and maybe see) these enigmatic and in decline birds and also keep an eye (or ear) out for other nocturnal birds such as nighthawks and owls along the way.

This trip will involve a combination of hiking and driving to various observation locations. Please come prepared with ample insect protection of your choice and a bottle of water.

Due to COVID safety restrictions, we are limiting this walk to 5 people per leader... YOU MUST RSVP IN ADVANCE! THERE WILL BE NO IN-PERSON SIGN UP! Since we will have such small groups, we ask that you contact the trip leader or aerin tedesco at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend.  (aerintedesco@gmail.com)

RSVP here.

Leader: Edward Warden; contact edwarhzan@gmail.com if you have questions.
