Birds & Bytes: A Conversation with Woody Goss

Join us for a conversation with birder, musician, and bird inspired composer Woody Goss.

He is best known for his work as keyboardist and composer for the funk band Vulfpeck, unless you are a Chicago birder, in which case you know him as just another one of the birders you see scrambling to get a photo of this week's rarity. He has been fascinated by birds since he was a child, but his obsession began and has been steadily increasing over the past couple years once he started meeting more experienced birders while "chasing." He doesn't like to leave Chicago (will only rarely drive more than an hour to see a bird) and is very interested in the history of the land, birds, and people of this city. His favorite places to bird these days are the grasslands and dunes, his favorite birds being the sparrows. When he's not making music or birding, which is most of the time, he is trying to do more work to make these pursuits available to those without the opportunities he has had.
