What could possibly make the IOS Gull Frolic any better (besides a Ross's Gull)? Birds & Beers the Friday evening before it, so some of our out of town Gull Frolic visitors can come socialize with the Chicago Birds & Beers gang, that's what!
Here is the plan: The IOS Gull Frolic is Saturday, February 11th beginning at 930am. As that is not such an early start, it was suggested we have a Birds & Beers the night before IOS Gull Frolic, hoping that some of the out of town birders attending Gull Frolic would join the Chicago Birds & Brews gang for some socializing with our group of beer lovers that have a birding problem (I mean, spending a day chumming for gulls, need I say more about the birding problem?).
We have found a venue right off the highway on the northside of Chicago, Old Irving Brewing Company, just off I-94 at Montrose Avenue. It is a GREAT new microbrew that will set aside an area for our group that Friday evening. Normally, they don't take reservations, but will for us. WE WILL NEED ALL ATTENDEES TO CONFIRM ATTENDANCE HERE BY WEDNESDAY AM, FEBRUARY 8th.
As always, our Birds & Beer events are open to all. Birders, the birding curious, nature lovers, and the spouses and significant others of all the above; and yes, even larophiles. It is a gregarious group, the conversation is lively, and I think the regulars as well as some of our newest guests will agree, it is a fun night out with like minded "bird brains."
So make your plans now, and join us the Friday before Gull Frolic, for the 44th edition of Birds & Beers. Hope to see you then, including some of you out of town folks coming in for Gull Frolic.
