In Support of the Montrose Bird Sanctuary ADA Trail Project

Chicago Ornithological Society (COS) strongly supports the accessible path project at the Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary. The inclined and wood-chipped entrances have prevented people with disabilities from enjoying one of the premier birding locations in Chicago.

Chicago Park District involved COS and other stakeholders in the preliminary formulations of the Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary Master Plan (2015), including the path improvements.

COS has confirmed with the Park District that best practices will be employed during construction to minimize disruption to bird habitat. Once paving is complete, areas adjacent to construction will be repaired and restored.
