Trip Report: Fort Sheridan Hawkwatch - Oct. 6
By Aerin Tedesco
Big thanks to Adam Sell and everyone who joined today's COS Field Trip to Fort Sheridan Hawkwatch. We counted approximately eighty migrating raptors (exact figures to come from today's counters, Amanda and Jeff Bilsky) before closing down around 3 PM. Raptor species were Sharp-shinned, Coopers and Red-tailed Hawk, Merlin, Kestrel, Peregrine Falcon, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Turkey Vulture and Northern Harrier (one non-migrant). A morning Tufted Titmouse was our passerine-of-the-day.
