COS Celebrates Centennial with Illinois Young Birder Artwork

To help celebrate COS's 100 years as a Chicago area birding club, Lucas Haberkorn, age 11 years, and Nandu Dubey, age 14 years, members of the Illinois Young Birders club (IYB), created artwork for COS to use to promote its celebration. Both young men participate in many of the IYB field trips and spend many hours of their leisure time birding the Chicago area and studying birds.

Nandu Dubey's art piece uses a colored ink medium which portrays the birding community's enthusiasm for the return of nesting Yellow-headed Blackbirds in the Chicago area in recent years.

Lucas designed a '4 seasons of birding' art piece with watercolors that celebrates the four seasons of birding that Chicago birders thrive on:  Warblers migrating in Spring,  Killdeer nesting in Summer, Hawks migrating in Autumn and Gulls in Winter residence.

We are grateful for their willingness to share their talents with us.  In support of Illinois Young Birders, we will proudly display their artwork throughout 2012 on many of our promotional products and informational materials.
