This part of southwestern Cook County can be a great staging area for migrating waterfowl. Amar lives near Palos and has birded the area extensively. We should see a nice assortment of ducks, geese and cranes. Hawks may also be moving overhead, if conditions are right. Dress appropriately for weather and bring scopes and walkie-talkies if you have them. Meet at McGinnis Slough at 8:00 a.m.
Directions: From I-55, exit south onto U.S. Rte. 45/LaGrange Road. Head straight south to the McGinnis Slough parking lot on the west side of LaGrange Road (at about 13600 to 13700 south).
