Palos Sloughs for Waterfowl and Spring Migrants

Leader: Amar Ayyash amarayyash [at] hotmail [dot] com

This part of southwestern Cook County often provides a great opportunity to view a wide assortment of spring waterfowl. Amar lives near Palos and is extremely familiar with the area. The lakes and ponds should be teeming with ducks. In addition, Sandhill cranes may be passing over if there is a southerly wind. Early migrant songbirds may also be plentiful. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring scopes and walkie-talkies. Meet at McGinnis Slough.

Directions: From I-55, exit south onto U.S. Rte. 45/LaGrange Road. Head straight south to the McGinnis Slough parking lot on the west side of LaGrange Road (at about 13600 to 13700 south).
