Field Trips

COS offers an extensive field trip schedule that invites members to bird together throughout the year at local as well as national hotspots. Attendance is free and is open to members and nonmembers alike. Birders of all ability levels are welcome to participate in every trip. 2009 field trips included:

  • January: Bartel Grasslands Lakefront Gulls and Ducks
  • February Morton Arboretum
  • March: Palos Sloughs
  • April: Wolf Road Prairie Woodcocks, Montrose Harbor, Willow Slough, Eggers Woods
  • May: Magic Hedge, Miller Meadow, Humboldt Park, Northerly Island
  • August: Momence Sod Farms, Lake Calumet
  • September: Magic Hedge, Montrose Harbor, Columbus Park
  • October: Palos Sloughs, Introduction to Bird Watching
  • November: Gillson Park, Miller Beach

Most trips will end around noon, unless otherwise indicated. Weather will not cause a trip to be cancelled.
